What this site collects, where it goes and who to ask about it. The site asks for your details in two places: the contact form and Orki, the site's assistant.

Who we are

Orkvale Studios is Vishal Mahey's studio in Brampton, Ontario. For anything on this page, write to vishal@orkvale.com.

The contact form

When you send the form, we receive what you typed: your name, your business, your email and what you need, plus the budget and message if you add them. The form runs on Netlify Forms, part of Netlify, the company that hosts this site. Vishal reads your note there and replies by email. Your details are only used to reply to you.

A hidden field on the form catches spam bots. People never see it.

Orki, the assistant

Orki is an AI assistant. It does nothing until you open it and type or talk to it.

When you type

The latest messages in your conversation go through this site's server to Anthropic's Claude API, which writes Orki's replies. The key that unlocks the API stays on the server.

When you talk

The microphone starts only when you tap "Tap to talk", and Orki lets go of it when the conversation ends or you close Orki. Your browser's own speech recognition turns what you say into text. In some browsers, Chrome among them, that recognition runs on the browser maker's servers, so your voice goes to them. It never comes to us. The text then goes to Claude, as above.

On a computer the site also measures how loud you are, so Orki can move with your voice. That measurement stays in your browser, and nothing is recorded.

Orki's voice

If spoken replies are on, the text of Orki's reply (never your voice) goes through this site's server to a voice service, ElevenLabs or, as a backup, OpenAI, which reads it aloud. When neither is set up, your browser's own speech voice reads it instead; some browsers use an online voice for this. The speaker button in Orki's panel turns spoken replies off.

Passing your details to Vishal

If you ask Orki to pass your project on, it is set up to read the details back and ask before sending. It then sends your name, your email, the project and anything else you chose to give (phone, business, timing, budget) through Netlify Forms, marked as coming from Orki.

Orki can get things wrong. Vishal reads every enquiry himself.

The coming-soon list

The coming-soon "Tell me when it's ready" form is built but switched off, so it collects nothing yet. Before it goes live, this page will say what it keeps, why, and how to unsubscribe.

On your device

The site keeps a few settings in your browser so it can remember them: sound on or off, quality, reduced motion, and whether Orki speaks its replies. For the current visit only, it also notes whether you have come in, paused motion or seen Orki's hello. These stay on your device. The site's code sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or tracking pixels, and its fonts, pictures and sounds are served from this site.

Hosting

Netlify hosts the site. Like any host, it handles the technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages. Orki's server functions also hold your IP address briefly, in memory, to stop anyone sending too many messages at once.

Your choices

You can use the whole site without the form or Orki, and with sound off. To see what we hold about you, correct it or have it deleted, write to vishal@orkvale.com.
